Nominated for the Nordic Council Environment Prize 2017
Eyde Cluster is nominated for the Nordic Council Environment Prize because of being an inspirator and a good example for a waste-free society.

The prize winner will be announced in November.
Reduced the waste
Eyde Cluster is nominated for being a motive power for developing circular economy in the industry. The cluster motivates on both a national, Nordic and global level so that the ambitions for the environment can be reached, through concrete actions, projects and ways of working, which creates new valuable materials of waste.
Not to mention research and piloting with the "Waste to Value" project driven by a co-work in the cluster. Here the main target is to produce raw materials for sale, based on side stream from several companies.
Waste-free society
The theme for the Nordic Council Environment Prize 2017 is initiatives that bring us closer to the waste-free society.
- With such a theme, its a good reason to show the work going on in the process industry. This is the background for Norwegian Industrys nomination of Eyde Cluster, says Ole Børge Yttredal, CEO in Norwegian Industrys Energy - and Environment department.
The industry works determined for reducing their amount of waste, use their bi-products and use recycled raw materials. This is economical profitable, enforce their competitiveness and contributes to the development of sustainable solutions and products. The collaboration happening within companies in the process industry in industrial areas or clusters have turned out to be important to provoke projects for make the most of waste and bi-products.
In front
- The industry companies in Eyde Cluster are in front and show which role the industry takes in developing new value chains and new business opportunities when they maximize the value of the raw materials, waste and side streams of the company.
This gives extra force to the company in competition with others. The co-work and the projects realised through Eyde Cluster give inspiration to innovation, and are important forces for increased resource efficiency within the companies.
Our opinion is that Eyde Cluster is a very good candidate for this years Nordic Environment Prize, continues Yttredal.
Former prize winners
Nordic Council Environment Prize is given to a Nordic company, organization or a person who in a exemplary way has mandaged to integrate the respect for the environment in their activities or way of working, or in another way has done an extraordinary effort for the environment.
Among the former prize winners of the Nordic Council Environment Prize is Selina Juul for her fight against food-wrecking, the well-known organization Bellona that aims to meet and fight the climate challenges, the environmental organization from Greenland, Inuit Circumpolar Conference, Ålands Agenda 21 kontor, the environmeltal fighter Bogi Hansen from Faroe Islands, Albertslunds kommune i Danmark, tre nordiske banker and the Scandic-hotels.
