Want to initiate a glass recycling project

3B Fiberglass has a lot of glass waste that has great potential for recycling. The R&D department now wants to start a project that can reuse the glass waste from the fiberglass.

The project is currently only at the concept stage and was pitched by process engineer Martin Hermansen and finance manager Kåre Rysstad in 3B Fiberglass during the R&D forum in Dyreparken last week.

Get more out of the glass

- Glass is our raw material, and it would be nice if we could get more out of it. We can save significant amounts a month by reusing it again in the oven, says financial manager Kåre Rysstad.

Research manager Martin Hemmer pitched the project last year, but it was put on hold due to repairs to the ovens in 3B Fibreglass. Now that the new ovens are in place, there it´s possible to plan new projects in the R&D department.

Saving money and the environment

- The project is about getting a new recycling system up and running. Our glass consists of quartz and other minerals, which can be reused. Then we also avoid transport to landfill, and by that, we are saving both money and the environment on this. We only have to find support and partners, says Martin Hermansen in the company's R&D department.
